An Elberta man, Julio Perez Jr., has been arrested on multiple felony charges after allegedly using Snapchat to contact and transport a 15-year-old from Florida to his home, where unlawful sexual acts reportedly occurred. The arrest followed a joint investigation launched in March 2026 by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and the Robertsdale Police Department.
Perez, who is reportedly 19 years of age, was formally interviewed and arrested on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. He faces charges of second-degree rape, second-degree sodomy, and traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act. Officials noted that additional charges may be filed as the investigation is ongoing.
In connection with the case, authorities are urging parents and guardians to be actively involved in their children’s digital lives. Officials warn that social media platforms can expose minors to individuals who misrepresent themselves, and advise adults to regularly review their children’s online activity and encourage them to report any concerning or uncomfortable interactions. Law enforcement emphasizes that meeting someone from the internet without supervision is unsafe and that attentive involvement is crucial for safeguarding children.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office is seeking anyone with information or assistance in identifying unknown victims to come forward. For questions about the case, contact Captain Correa or Lieutenant Ashton at the Criminal Investigations Division at 251-972-8589.
