The Elberta Police Department and Elberta Municipal Court are giving residents a chance to resolve outstanding warrants during the month of April. The initiative, called Amnesty April, aims to reduce the town’s warrant backlog. Residents with active warrants can go to Elberta Town Hall to be processed, with options for new payment plans or rescheduled court dates.
This amnesty program provides an opportunity for Elberta residents to clear their records and avoid further legal issues, while also helping the municipal court system address its backlog of outstanding warrants. It reflects the town’s efforts to work with the community and find solutions to address minor legal issues.
Residents with capias warrants, related to unpaid fines, will be processed and offered a new payment plan. Individuals with failing to appear warrants will be processed, released on a signature bond and assigned a new court date. Warrants for other charges will result in processing at Foley Jail, followed by a scheduled court date with bond requirements and release. The special court session will be held on April 13 at 2 p.m., with check-in starting at 1 p.m.
