A heavily trafficked entrance road off of Highway 59 in Foley remains closed due to a pothole. Located next to Whataburger, the road is a popular entrance into Hobby Lobby, El Paso Mexican Grill and even Lowes. The turn lane from Hwy. 59 south is even barricaded from entry.
The closure is necessary due to deteriorating pavement conditions, the City of Foley stated in a press release. While the roadway is privately owned, the City has received multiple reports regarding the pavement’s condition and has taken steps to notify the property owner. As part of those efforts, the City has also begun the appropriate escalation process.
To help reduce the potential for damage to vehicles, access from Highway 59 to the private roadway will remain closed until repairs are completed by the property owner. Businesses in the area remain open and can be accessed through their alternate entrances.
The pothole has grown in size over the past few weeks and the road’s owner has yet to send a repair crew. Recently, local drivers have taken to social media to show their frustration.
