The Foley Event Train is starting its summer run with a celebration of America’s 250th birthday.
The train starts operation for the 2026 summer season Tuesday, May 26. Passengers board and get off the train at the Foley Railroad Museum, located at the city’s historic 1909 L&N Depot on East Laurel Avenue.
On May 26 and Thursday, May 28, living history interpreters dressed as Revolutionary War soldiers will be at the Railroad Museum to kick off the depot’s America 250 celebration.
The depot will also offer an American Revolution-themed scavenger hunt on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays throughout the summer.
Participants can pick up the scavenger hunt at the Model Train Exhibit and search for hidden items located throughout both the Model Train Exhibit and the Foley Railroad Museum.
The first 250 guests who successfully complete the scavenger hunt will receive a special commemorative pin.
Visitors can also stop by the museum’s America 250 Visitor Response Wall, where they can leave a special message reflecting on America’s 250th anniversary.
The Model Train Exhibit and Event Train will operate from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The Foley Railroad Museum is open Monday through Saturday.
The last admission to all locations will be at 2:45 p.m.
Admission to the museum and rides on the Event Train are free.
The train takes 15 to 20 minutes to circle the park. The train includes about four passenger cars that can each carry up to four people, depending on the size of the passengers.
